Greater Kansas City Community Foundation

The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation allows its donors to provide scholarships to students in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area pursuing either a 2 or 4 year degree, trade program or post-secondary degree. We provide over $3 million in financial support to students from over 270 different funds. We offer a wide variety of opportunities, and criteria vary from financial need and academic achievement to degree programs and involvement in extracurricular activities.

STUDENTS SERVED:

High School Seniors, Current College Students

APPLICATION PERIOD:

Early December – March or April

KC Scholars aims to increase postsecondary education attainment by providing the means – through scholarships, financial incentives to promote college savings, and support services – for low- and modest-income students and adults to complete a postsecondary credit-bearing credential or degree. KC Scholars awards scholarships each May 1 – awarding over 1,000 scholarships annually (near $40 M annually in renewable value), some valued at $10,000/year and renewable up to 5 total years.

STUDENTS SERVED:

9th and 11th graders in high school and returning adult learners

APPLICATION PERIOD:

Adults – November 14-December 14, HS Students – January 1 – Late February

Truman Heartland Community Foundation

Truman Heartland Community Foundation

Truman Heartland Community Foundation helps donors invest in our community by providing financial support to students following their dreams and working toward a brighter future. THCF awards nearly $500,000 in scholarships annually to students from Eastern Jackson County or students at local colleges and universities. Scholarships are available for two and four-year undergraduate, graduate, and technical certification programs, including many renewable scholarships.

STUDENTS SERVED:

Graduating high school seniors, current college students, graduate students, technical certifications, private and parochial school

APPLICATION PERIOD:

Most are open October – February, some have unique timelines.

Flourish Initiative

Flourish is an independent nonprofit organization serving youth encountering educational and economic barriers. It was initially founded by employees of Veterans United Home Loans and their values and commitment to enhance lives and sponsored by the Veterans United Foundation. The Flourish Initiative offers two programs: a Traditional Scholarship and a Technical, Trade, Certificate Scholarship. Applicants must attend a higher education program within 30 miles of Boone County.

Graduating high school seniors, current college students, technical certifications

APPLICATION PERIOD:

Traditional Scholarship: March 1-31, Technical Scholarship: Rolling admissions

My Scholarship Central

My Scholarship Central features scholarships from community providers, including Andrew Vidal Scholarship Fund, Avis Renee Riddle Memorial Foundation, Bolivian Society of St. Louis, MOACAC, Journey to College, MASFAP, Missouri Chamber of Commerce, OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, Venezuelan Association in Missouri, and the Women Legislators of Missouri. Click the “Apply Now on My Scholarship Central” button, complete the general application and see a list of scholarships you may qualify for.

Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation

Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation’s (MSLF) mission is to provide innovative products and services to help Missouri students, particularly those with insufficient financial resources, to prepare for, enter into and successfully complete higher education at Missouri institutions. By providing scholarships, grants, and low-cost loans, the foundation supports persistence to graduation from institutions of higher education by Missouri citizens.

APPLICATION PERIOD:

Most MSLF programs are open January through June; some are open year round.

St. Louis Community Foundation

St. Louis Community Foundation works with donors who want to help a wide variety of students. Some scholarships are based upon where a student lives, other require certain majors and several are open to students whose parents work for particular companies. While many of our scholarships are limited to St. Louis area students (including Metro East Illinois counties), students across country may find a scholarship we offer for which they are eligible. We award approximately $1.6 million in scholarships each year.

The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis

The Scholarship Foundation opens doors to higher education through direct financial support to students in the form of grants and interest-free loans, an advising program that supports more than 6,000 students annually, and by advocating for policy changes that will increase college access and affordability.

The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis collects applications through My Scholarship Central.
