Who we are

Scholarship Central, a program of MOCAN, MyScholarshipCentral.org, the web-based platform it hosts, and the Oversight Committee of Scholarship Central are strongly committed to protecting the privacy of users. This policy identifies what personal information is collected by My Scholarship Central and how the information may be used.  Each organization that partners with Scholarship Central to provide its scholarship opportunity on the website agrees to this privacy policy in addition to their own organization’s specific privacy policies.

Information Collection and Sharing

Two types of information may be collected by My Scholarship Central on MyScholarshipCentral.org and our application site (https://stlouisgraduates.academicworks.com/) : personal information you knowingly choose to share and aggregate site use information as you and others use our site. My Scholarship Central does not sell, rent, or loan any personally identifying information to outside parties. By signing an application, you agree that your application information may be reviewed by the specific scholarship organization that sponsors the opportunity.  All sponsor organizations sign a formal partner agreement with Scholarship Central that requires them to keep scholarship application information confidential.

To help counselors and advisors support students through the scholarship application process, a small amount of data may be shared with third parties.  If a counselor, advisor, or college access program staff member requests this information, the following information may be shared: student name and their general application status (drafted or submitted) and whether a student has started an opportunity application.

All other data and information sharing is done in aggregate without revealing any student’s personal information.  Aggregate data is shared with the Missouri College & Career Attainment Network (MOCAN) for research and development purposes.

My Scholarship Central Users: Their Roles and Responsibilities

Students can only access their personal, verified account.  It is their responsibility to protect their username and password.

Opportunity administrators can access any information related to their specific scholarship including opportunity applications, letters of recommendation, and general applications.  Opportunity administrators agree each year to keep application information confidential.

System administrators have full access to the information on the application site.  This small group of people is employed fulltime by scholarship-providing foundations and each system administrator signs a specific system administrator non-disclosure agreement.

Scholarship reviewers can access the applications (including uploaded documents and letters of recommendation) of students assigned to them. Scholarship providers that use the system may or may not disclose personally identifying information about applicants depending on their unique scholarship requirements.

Blackbaud Award Management

Blackbaud Award Management is the software that Scholarship Central contracts with each year to collect applications and store data.  You can read Blackbaud’s privacy policy here: https://www.blackbaud.com/company/privacy-policy/north-america

Communication Policies

Email is the primary form of communication from My Scholarship Central. The platform utilizes three forms of email communication – through the application site, through an email marketing system, and through individual email addresses. By creating an account on the application site, you have “opted in” to receiving these communications.  Other ways to opt in include voluntarily sharing your email address for the purpose of receiving information or explicitly granting permission to another organization to share your address with its business partners, which include MyScholarshipCentral.org.

Together, My Scholarship Central and its automated email vendors use security measures to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of data used by our system. These email vendors will not share, sell, or rent any information about you without your expressed, written permission, unless compelled to do so by law. Every mass email communication contains a link at the bottom: “Review/Edit Your Account Information or Unsubscribe.” Click this link and follow instructions to unsubscribe or edit/review your account information.

My Scholarship Central also gives student users the opportunity to opt-in to receive text messages.  To opt-in, you must answer YES to the texting opt-in question on the general application, as well as respond to an opt-in text sent by My Scholarship Central. You can opt out of texting anytime by responding STOP to a text message or contacting [email protected].

Right to Amend

My Scholarship Central reserves the right to amend its privacy policies at any time. Therefore, please review them periodically. Use of the website after changes to the policies will be deemed to be your agreement to the changed terms.

For additional information about this site, to ask questions about these privacy policies, or to review or correct personal information collected by My Scholarship Central, please contact My Scholarship Central staff by phone, in person, or through email.
